There are many ways to give back to your alma mater. The Career Services, Admissions, and Alumni Relations departments offer a variety of volunteer opportunities and ways to engage with current and prospective students.

CAREER SERVICES

Alumni Mentor:
Work with second and third-year students who are interested in your particular areas of practice and expertise.

Alumni Career Advisor:
Speak with students about your career, career path, practice area, or geographic area.

Speaker at a Career Services Seminar:
Participate in professional development seminars and presentations to guide students in their career development.

Speaker at a Legal Practice Discussion Group Meeting:
Speak with two to five students to answer their questions about your area of practice and expertise in an informal setting.

Mock Interviewer with Students:
Come to California Western and simulate real job interviews with two to four students participating as interviewees.

Law Clerk/Attorney Jobs for Students and Alumni:
Share with Career Services any law clerk, contract attorney or entry-level attorney positions available in your or a colleague’s office.

Meet and Talk with Students
Attend receptions and dinners with admitted students
Make yourself available by phone or email to talk about your experience at California Western
Participate as panelists at California Western and regional law events
Encourage prospective students to apply to California Western

ALUMNI RELATIONS

Join the Alumni Association Board of Directors:
The Alumni Board consists of 35 alumni directors who reside in San Diego (a requirement). Director term limits are three years, with the option to reinstate for an additional three years. Recruitment begins January 1 and concludes March 1 of every calendar year.

Serve as Regional Alumni Association Directors:
Regional Board Directors serve as key alumni representatives in many regions of the country. Regional directors assist the law school, developing relationships with alumni and fostering opportunities for regional involvement and engagement.

Lead Class Reunion Committees:
Contacting fellow classmates to garner and encourage participation in reunion celebration activities.
