COVER STORY: In the Spotlight
Just before 10 p.m. on May 4, 2001, Bonny Lee Bakley was found lying in the front seat of a sports car in Studio City, Calif., with a gunshot wound in her head. She and her husband, Robert Blake, star of Baretta, Our Gang, and In Cold Blood, had been dining at Vitello’s Italian Restaurant around the corner that evening. Blake says he found Bakley shot. The Los Angeles Police Department and district attorney's office didn't believe him.

STORY: The 21st Century Law Firm
The legal industry in the 20th century was deeply engaged in efforts to expand access to, and diversity within, the legal profession, recent research suggests that while many barriers the legal industry focused on - such as gender, race, and religious exclusion - have fallen, there is still much to be done in this new era of law. The 21st century law firm faces new challenges and opportunities.

FACULTY PROFILE: Susan Channick
The issue of revamping healthcare has emerged again on the national scene. California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is boring in on the issue, proposing a major overhaul of the state system that has pleased some while raising the hackles of many advocacy groups. 2008 presidential candidates talk about the lack of access and escalating costs of healthcare as major concerns for Americans.

FACULTY PROFILE: Tom Barton
As Tom Barton contemplated his next steps in life as a senior at Tulane University in 1971, he looked at two divergent career paths. The first was to pursue a graduate degree in broadcasting and film. The second was law school. "I remember going to Cornell University for an interview at the law school. I don't think I'd ever met a lawyer, and I'd never been to the East Coast," he recalls.
